Top 10: TV Shows That Should Never Have Been Cancelled

There is nothing I hate more than becoming so emotionally invested in a show and the shows characters when suddenly, the show gets cancelled. Below is a list of my top 10 TV shows that, in my opinion, should NEVER have been cancelled.

Eye Candy (2015)

Don’t even get me started on how mad I was that this show ended. One season was not enough, especially with the ending it had. The show follows an internet hacker, Lindy, on her journey to find her sister who was abducted years ago. In the process, she gains herself a stalker/serial killer which leads her to work with the police on various cyber crime cases. Victoria Justice and Casey Jon Deidrick did an AMAZING job acting in this. Their on screen chemistry was flawless as well as a flawless performance from Ryan Cooper. I suspect that the only reason the show ended was the lack of rating that came from being a show on MTV. I don’t think anyone expected the show to be as good as it was purely because of the network it was with. Out of everything on this list this was a clear #1 for me. It’s never too late to make a comeback… MTV please! Bring back this show!

The Secret Circle (2011-2012)

Despite the fact the the show appeared to be merely another supernatural show for teens, it was much more (even in its short airtime). The show followed a group of witches who found the final piece to complete their ‘secret circle’ when Cassie moves to town. The show proved to have intriguing story lines and loveable characters that I was able to form connections with. One season was definitely NOT enough. Even though it was only one season, I still recommend giving it a watch as it was a thrilling and exciting experience that I loved every minute of. Or maybe I loved it so much because of my love for Phoebe Tonkin… either way, it’s a great show and should have had AT LEAST another season.

Stalker (2014-2015)

Again, don’t get me started on how mad I was about this show ending. The show is about a group of detectives that focus on cases involving stalking. Each and every case is equally as fascinating and disturbing as the last, not to mention one of the best ongoing story lines I have ever seen. I must admit, the show was a little scary but that just added to the appeal. I have no clue as to why this show was cancelled but I know a lot of people would be upset by it. There was so much potential for this show to continue for seasons on end but unfortunately it was cut unreasonably short after the first season. CBS, why did you do this to me?

The Lying Game (2011-2013)

This TV show is from the same author as ‘Pretty Little Liars’ and I’m sure we all know how successful that show it. Having read the books for both PLL and the Lying Game, I can honestly say that the books for the Lying Game were better. The storyline is so intriguing. Sutton and Emma are long lost twins who were separating under questioning circumstances that Sutton takes upon herself to discover. In the mean time, Emma is left to take over her twins life until Sutton’s disappearance leaves her wondering if her twin has run away or is dead. This show had a longer life span than some of the others making it to two wonderful and mysterious seasons. Personally, I think this show was just as good as PLL with very high potential to reach the level PLL is on now. Such a shame we were unable to follow the twins journey further.

Emily Ownes M.D. (2012-2013)

Now to be honest, I don’t remember very much about this show. I do, however, remember LOVING it’s one and only season. Again, this is a show with so much potential it pains me to think about it. The blurb on IMDB says, “A young doctor realises that working as an intern in a big hospital is very much the same as being in high school”. This bring back some memories – it was basically like high school in a hospital which proved to be very entertaining. Maybe the show was cancelled so early because of the success of other medical dramas (mainly Grey’s Anatomy which is still going strong). It seems like the world wasn’t ready for another amazing medical drama on television… maybe one day the world will be ready.

Revolution (2012-2014)

2 SEASONS WAS NOT ENOUGH! The show picks up 15 years after a worldwide electricity blackout where not even battery devices work. A group set out to return the United States to its former glory and fight the current government. Billy Burke puts on an amazing performance in this incredibly underrated show. It had such great potential to continue for years and become even more successful. If you liked ‘Under the Dome’ then you will definitely find this a thrilling and intriguing program to watch. I recommend it to everyone.

FlashForward (2009-2010)

I always had this show in mind but unfortunately forgot the name and most of the plot line of the show before looking it up. Upon watching the trailer again I remember bits and pieces of the show and more importantly, I remember throughly enjoying it. In this show, every person on earth simultaneously blacks out while having a vision of their future. As you can see, this show has an extremely interesting concept that I would have loved to see more of. It was intriguing not only to find out why the blackouts were occurring but also if the visions would come true. The show had many layers and I think thats what made it great. Unfortunately, it only lasted for the one season.

Eli Stone (2008-2009)

I remember watching this show with my mother when I was very young, probably too young to be watching a show like this. I do remember loving it though. Eli Stone is a lawyer with a brain aneurysm who has visions that lead him to accept certain cases. As I said, I have only watched this show a long time ago but am desperate to get my hands on it so I can re-watch it. The show only lasted for 2 seasons which from my memory, wasn’t enough.

Body Of Proof (2011-2013)

This show lasted for 3 seasons which I am thankful for although I would have loved even more. This show is about a medical examiner, Megan, who has a unique approach to crime solving. You may be thinking that this is just another mystery drama show but it was much more. The show had character, mystery, comedy and everything you want wrapped up in one show. If you are a crime lover then you would definitely find yourself wanting more after these 3 short seasons.

Stitchers (2015-2017)

“Stitchers” is a sci-fi crime drama series that follows the story of Kirsten Clark, a young woman with a rare skill that allows her to be “stitched” into the memories of the recently deceased. Recruited by a covert government agency, Kirsten becomes part of a team that uses her unique ability to solve murders and uncover mysteries by exploring the minds of the deceased. As she delves deeper into the memories of the departed, Kirsten uncovers dark secrets and complex conspiracies that challenge her understanding of reality. There was so much about this show to love – the original concept, the characters (Cameron was my favourite), the storylines – it was truly one of a kind. I watched this show around Halloween one year and it was the perfect show to put me in the spooky mood. It’s such a shame that it only lasted 3 seasons as it deserved to live on for much longer.
